A Christmas Miracle

I was a little shepherd boy.
David is my name.
And I was there, and saw the Star
The night that Jesus came.

It was a dark and lonely night.
We were tending flocks,
Watching as the lambs and ewes
Grazed among the rocks.

There came a bright light from above;
A brilliantly shining star.
An angel's voice spoke to us
From Heaven's realm afar.

In Bethlehem, the angel said,
A babe lay in the hay.
He was Messiah, Savior, Christ,
Born to us this day.

We stared in wonder at the sight
As a choir began to sing
Of glorious tidings to all men;
Praise to this new King.

The Star guided us to the place
So lowly, meek and mild.
There in a humble cattle stall
Lay this Holy child.

Mary smiled at her baby boy.
Joseph looked on, too.
We didn't know what He'd become;
The things that He'd do.

He grew into a sinless man
Who lived and preached God's word
So many lives He did touch
When His words were heard.

I heard that He was crucified
On Calvary's cruel tree
His blood was shed that all might live,
Even you and me!

Many long years have come and gone
Since the angels sung
I can still see the brilliant light
Though I'm well past young.

I'll not forget that miracle,
Even though I'm old and gray.
I've tried to live just as He did
And not go astray.

Immanuel, Our God with us,
Born in the lowly hay
I watched over Him so long ago,
He's watching me today.
