Everyone has different ways of coping with unfortunate circumstances. If a young person had seen a behaviors of parents during tough times, it is big probability that he or she is going to repeat that behavior during his or her lifetime. Someone may deny it, but in most of the cases, he or she does take over the habits of people who raised him or her. That is good news for those who were lucky enough to be risen in a mentally healthy family because that group of people will be equipped in resilience. Resilience helps you see the world in positive perspective. Makes you be willing to undertake new challenges in life. Resilience gives you the ability to identify yourself as a winner and a survivor, rather than a victim. It actually is your best friend, you can always count on helping yourself to find the best solution to the worst unfortunate circumstances. It gives you the power to believe in yourself and to be able to always look for solution to existing troubles. Finally, resilience makes one develop into a better person and helps one to cope with anything that stands in the way to a happy life. However, not everyone knows about resilience as a choice of behavior. In few families there might be just one parent or not even one who would introduce theirs children to resilient behavior. Children coming from those families usually don't solve their problems. They just leave them the way they are. If they are addicted to substances, they keep taking them. If they used to do certain things, they will continue doing them. Many times they don't have financial independence. That force them to stay at home observing not always right example of their parents' behavior. They have anyone to count on or to give a right piece of advise. Most of the time these children don't predict consequences of their actions nor do they have plans and goals in life.
Having goals in your life and going towards them is like a journey that is full of experiences and excitement. It is like investment in your personal development, which possibly could make a difference in the world. You have to have patience and determination to achieve long term goal. The road is long and full of obstacles, so you should allow positive attitude and belief in yourself help you overcome difficulties. An interesting thing about a goal is that there is so many different ways to achieve it. Desire, courage, one's creative side certainly have a great influence in shaping the road to one's success. During a long period of waiting for any results, some people loose their drive towards accomplishment of their goal. Listening to someone else's experiences, strong rivalry or financial situation could be additional problems standing in a way to success. If you have unexpected problems, you may have to change your plans. Consequently, time of getting to your destination point will have to extend. Character trait such as perseverance allow you to keep trying. Having your goal in your mind will help you find solutions to new problems. You shouldn't say that you won't have any problems. You will, but a different kind. It is just way of life. To get the best things in life, you have to put a lot of effort, because they are hard to get as everyone desire them. While on a way to success, make sure you are not crossing the law or exploit others. You personally will be one day responsible for your decisions. You should not forget about importance of being empathic in whatever you do. This trait of character makes you think about other people and consequently helps you to make right decisions without hurting or taking advantage of others.
'' Every time we interact with others, they form an image of us and that image will play a large role in determining how comfortably and cooperatively they will relate to us. " - Robert Brooks PhD " The importance of empathy: How to strengthen our ability to be more empathic". You wonder why there is so many misunderstandings in relationships? People think about how they feel like at certain moment. They don't think about what someone else think at that moment. If they put themselves into someone else's shoes, they would find themselves to be more understanding in relationships. They would understand the other person's problems and would be able to help them solve these problems. Rich people would be able to understand poor people needs, healthy person would be in better help to sick person, young people would be able to help older people. Parents and teachers would be able to understand behavior of a "problem child". That understanding would happen if we had empathy. Empathy pushes us to act and make a change in the world. It is the most needed to be shown when someone while facing adversity is loosing his or her hope for better times. If one receives help at the right moment, it is possible one will get the belief in himself or herself back. We should open our eyes wider - there may be someone right around the corner looking forward to have conversation with us about something interesting, get a piece of information, listen to an optimistic word or just in need to be listened. Be careful though, not everyone has empathy.
