A Soul Adrift
A poem for lost souls

A barren landscape far and wide
Void of prosper and void of bliss
Ever reaching from side to side
Loneliness cuts like an abyss

The winds of life move ever swift
In a torrent across the plain
A lost soul having gone adrift
Amid a sea of hurt and pain

It dances here, it dances there
Never settling in just one place
It conquers all though in despair
Soaring eternally in space

A kindred spirit it does seek
Regardless of the long hard road
Its search continues reaching peak
Until the soul wants to explode

Faithfully it marches forward
Its fate a mystery to all
The soul it keeps fighting onward
Refusing stubbornly to fall

Wildly it probes, the quest is grand
Never idling in its attempt
Hunting madly a promised land
With a voice now full of contempt

At last among the infinite
Its bounty it finally spies
The chase begins so innocent
Its beauty it needs to survive

The two swift winds of life collide
In a storm of passion and lust
The lone two souls vow to provide
The love, the balance, and the trust

Together fondly intertwined
The souls they drift onward again
Just as fate had always designed
Their lives at last free to begin

A barren landscape far and wide
A ray of hope brightens the day
Ever flowing as does the tide
Loneliness has gone away
