You Gave Me the Gift
Over the years I have been thankful. I received sundry tributes and gifts. Some were cordial, factual and a few grateful. All, at the time, were affecting lifts. When I was young, I appreciated money. Time changed that perspective plenty. My point of view was immature, yet faulty. As I matured, perceptions rallied daily. At the age of ten gifts were anticipated. By 16 presents were often rewards. By 35 boons are often over-rated. Now at 66 tributes become mental records. My beloved wife gave me the best gift. For so many years she shared her love. It was her love that never let me drift. Daily, now I am thankful for my special dove.
