(Almost) Like a Friend
I saw you ; you didn't know I was there.

         (Almost) Like a Friend

I sort of saw you cry today
With every anguish laid bare,
My prying eyes witness to
What you never dare to share.

Then with your every shudder,
I imagined the torments within -
Making it harder to hate you,
Since we share this similar sin.

All my wonder is expelled,
Though too does disappointment flee,
As my curiosity's sniff
Earns a broken nose for me
And wins for you some sympathy.
