                                          Ghazal 200


Persian:  Guzarad mahay o yak shab ba munat guzar nabaashad
              Barawad shabay o ma ra khabar az sahar nabaashad
Urdu:      Shab e gham maen yaan say meh ka jo hua guzar naheen hay
              Gaie shab hay aur mujh ko khabar e sahar naheen hay

English:=== To see her moon you wait all night
                  And wait and wait and see no light
                                                    -

Persian:  Rasadat bar auj e khoobi, ager aaftaab gardi
              Keh dar aaftaab  gardish chu tooay diger nabaashad
Urdu:      Teray auj e husn o khoobi say hua hay sab pay roshan
              Keh muneer mahr e taabaan ba rukh e diger naheen hay 

English:=== And when it's there in the sky at night
                  Even moon looks dark without her light
                                                      -

Persian:  Natawaan zay baad e deedan nazar az to bar griftan
              Natawaanad aan keh chashmash bawad o nazar nabaashad
Urdu:      Tujhay daekh ker hatay hay na koie nigaah rukh say
              Jo hatay teri shakal say wo koie nazar naheen hay

English:=== But it has so much beauty and grace
                  That you always want to look at her face
                                                      -

Persian:  Sukhan e to aan halaawat keh shakar tawaansh guftan
              Zay gham e to daarad ar nay sukhan az shakar nabaashad
Urdu:      Na shahad maen wo halaawat hay jo baat maen hay taeri
              Hay tera naheen wo hergiz jo sukhan shakar naheen hay

English:=== And what she says is so very sweet
                  That listening to her is always a treat
                                                        -   

Persian:  Khabaram mapoorse az mun chu muqaabil e mun aaie
              Keh chun dar rukh e to beenam, zay khudam khabar nabaashad
Urdu:      Too na poochh haal maera jo firaaq nay kiya hay
              Teray gham maen mujh ko apni rahi kuchh khabar naheen hay

English:=== But when she comes and talks to you
                  You know not what to say or do
                                                          -

Persian:  Ba malaamatam hama kus dar e sabr meenumaayad
              Keh badast sabr laikin cheh kunam ager nabaashad
Urdu:      Dil e aashiq o saboori maen naheen hay rabt koie
              Ho qaraar dil ko kaisay, mujhay sabr jab naheen hay

English:=== So it's not that easy; and loving her
                  Is not a job for an amateur
                                                            -

Persian:  Dil e mustamand e KHUSRO sukhan e to paish e her kas
              Chun qalam faro nakhaanad agerash do sar nabaashad
Urdu:      Dil e mustamand e KHUSRO ko qaraar kis terheh ho
              Keh tahi rahay jab us ka kabhee tujh say sar naheen hay

English:=== And, KHUSRO, this yearning is bound to recur
                  Because you are always thinking of her
