“What do you mean I'm pregnant?”
The doctor shook her head in dismay as she stared at the papers clasped in her hands. “That's what the results are showing.” The patient jumped off the table. “But I'm a man!” She looked at him, her eyebrow raised. “Gee, thanks. I hadn't noticed that.” “You don't think the tests got mixed up, do you?” Mandi shrugged. “It's the only explanation I can come up with. Surely you wouldn't mind if I asked to do more tests.” Jaxon growled. “Lady, you're telling me I am expecting a child. That's a physical impossibility. Hell no, I'm not going to tell you not to do more tests. I'm going to demand it.” “Boy, you sure are acting pregnant.” He rolled his eyes. “I'm not pregnant! Now, figure out what's wrong with me. The real problem this time.” “Fine, fine. Don't get your panties in a bunch. Get back on the table and lift up your shirt.” As the patient did as she asked, Mandi opened the drawer on the metal cart and pulled out a tube of gel. She walked into the hall and came back in a minute later, rolling a large machine. She noticed Jaxon look at it with trepidation. “This is an ultrasound machine. It'll show me what's going on in your stomach.” She pulled her rolling stool closer to the table, shook the plastic bottle in her hand and held it over his abdomen. “Okay now, this is going to be a bit-” “Cold!” She grimaced at Jaxon's shout of surprise. “Sorry. I don't use it often enough to keep it warmed up.” He scoffed. “Yeah, I doubt too many men in this town have to worry about being told they are pregnant. Or is this a mistake you've made before?” he asked with sarcasm. Mandi's eyes widened as she stared at the black and white screen in front of her. “I've never had to deal with a situation like this. But I wasn't lying. Jaxon, you are indeed pregnant. See there?”
