                                      Ghazal 212


Persian:  Aashiqay ra keh gham e doost beh az jaan nabawad
              Aashiq e jaan bawad, aashiq e jaanaan nabawad
Urdu:      Jo bhee daway gham e jaanaan kay ewaz jaan naheen
              Aashiq e jaan hay wo, aashiq e jaanaan naheen

English:=== Love you don't if you don't love pain
                  And if you do, you wouldn't complain
                                            -

Persian:  Murdan az doosti aey doost zay Hindu aamooz
              Zinda dar aatish soozaan shudan aasaan nabawad
Urdu:      Daekh Hindu ko, ager soaz ka shikwa hay tujhay
              Shoaq say aag maen jalna bhee kuchh aasaan naheen

English:=== The fire of love you cannot survive
                  And like a Hindu you'll burn alive
                                            -     

Persian:  Zehr kash az kaff e saaqi to ager maikhaari
              Keest kash tishnagi e chashma e haiwaan nabawad
Urdu:        Aab e haiwaan teri aankhoun say milay hay saaqi
                Kya hua ger tera khum chashma e haiwaan naheen

English:=== And if your sorrow does greatly increase
                  You'll take the poison and die in peace
                                              -

Persian:  Aey keh aashiq na ie, ger dam dehadat ghamzazanay
              Dil na bandi keh nikorooay Musalmaan nabawad
Urdu:      Aek ayyaar har, tarraar hay, hushiaar hay wo
              Day na dil us ko, wo kaafir hay, Musalmaan naheen

English:=== You may be faithful, but she's a belle
                  So completely faithless, such infidel
                                                -

Persian:  Chand pursi keh chira khalq ba rooyam hairaanst
              Een hikaayat zay kasay purse keh hairaan nabawad
Urdu:      Daekh ker rukh tera hairaan hoay loag haen kuin
              Poochna ger hay toe poochh us say keh hairaan naheen

English:=== She also has beauty, charm, and grace
                  And everybody loves her gorgeous face

Persian:  KHUSRAVA bulbuly aakhir, ba qafas hum khush baash
              Dour e gardoonst hama, baagh o gulistaan nabawad
Urdu:      Gardish e paa maen teri bulbul e shaida KHUSRO
              Dour e douraan hay, koie sair e gulistaan naheen

English:=== And, KHUSRO, you're a nightingale
                  You're born to love, and wail, and wail
