This Boat

This boat is sinking
Taking on an ocean of tears
The bleeding hull pierced by a scandalous lie
The lines moored between uncertainties and fears

Its future anchored to a sandy shore of deceit
Then rocked by waves of vengeful reproach
We steered to truths we knew not of
Under the beady eyes of a rat and a drowning roach

Neither knew port from starboard gaze
Our compass blown by winds of apologies made too late
We started out lovingly rowing our boat
Our oars, too small and too fragile, now adrift on hate
