Have you ever stopped to ponder the fact that sin always has a payday? Simply put, this means that your sin will come back to haunt you. Sometimes, it may seem that we have gotten away with our "sinning". But, Scripture has a law of sowing and reaping, and our God is omniscient. He sees and knows all that we do. He is aware of our sins, no matter how great or small.

Fortunately, the God that we serve is one of grace and forgiveness. He has given us the ultimate guideline to live by. This guideline is the Bible or His Holy Word. We need to assimilate the virtues of the Word of God. The Bible is forever. God's text will stand eternally. It is untouchable, truthful, and precious. His words are sweet to our mouth. It is proven perfection and a source of growth, joy, and power.

I cannot truthfully state that I am one of those people who can spout out chapter and verse from this blessed book. I find myself to be sorely lacking in this department. But, the ultimate yardstick of our knowledge lies not in how much one can utter from memory, but in how much one grows, spiritually using the comprehension that has been gained by reading His Word. The journey to being a mature Christian is based on the words of Christ. One must be firmly grounded in his or her faith and understanding.

The rule of the "P's" should apply to your life. These are:
1. Ponder after the Word of God.
2. Preserve the Word of God.
3. Practice the Word of God.
4. Proclaim the Word of God.
5. Praise the Word of God.
6. Pattern your prayer from the Word of God.

We should all relish in the awareness that we were made to worship and adore our Heavenly Father, bringing honor and glory to Him. We should praise Him, remembering what He has done for us. We should tell others of His greatness. We should show His glory and His grace to others. We should serve Him, always, by offering the gifts of time, talents, and resources to further His Kingdom. We should have a serving spirit, not be detained by worldly things, and follow through with His commandments. We should pray ceasing, and we should wait on God to show us His pathway.

You may find that you will become empowered from this source of growth, joy, and victory over the things of this world. When we become mature in our actions, deeds, speech, and service, we will become better Christians, who appreciate the virtues of His Holy Word.
