54  May I Hold Your Hand, My Dear

May I hold your hand, my dear
And sit in the pretty moonlight
O I’ll be gallant, so don’t you fear
That somehow it won’t be right

Don’t you know
I love you so?

May I play with your locks, my dear
And may I pull them slight
O I’ll be careful, so don’t you fear
That rumple your hair I might

Don’t you know
I love you so?

May I kiss your lips, my dear
And may I kiss them right
O I’ll be tender, so don’t you fear
That them I might bite

Don’t you know
I love you so?

May I hold you close, my dear
And may I hold you tight
O I’ll be gentle, so don’t you fear
That be too rough I might

Don’t  you know
I love you so?
