ECHO OF FOOTSTEPS
In the hours past midnight, the echo of footsteps, and the chains of the past still haunt my dreams. The moonlight shines through the open window, casting shadows in the darkness of my room. Being old and alone is a wretched existence. There is no one caring enough to hear my cries. The dampness penetrates my mind and soul, I try to sleep, tossing and turning, failing! Finally, my eyes close in sleep once more. His smoky grey eyes smile down at me as my dream becomes my only reality. I leave only the echo of footsteps behind. Countrymom 2/16/11
