                                    Ghazal 226


Persian:  Her keh ra yaaray chu to sarkash bawad
              Kay zay beam e taegh sardarkash bawad
Urdu:      Yaar jis ka tujh sa ik sarkash bana
              Jo bhee kuchh us ko mila dilkash bana

English:=== A man whose gal is a willful shrew
                  With happiness he is forever through
                                          -

Persian:  Majlisay kaan ja bawad shumay chu to
              Murgh e jaan parwaana e aatish bawad
Urdu:      Shum e mehfil tha jahaan bhee too wahaan
              Murgh e jaan parwaana e aatish bana

English:=== But her for burning he cannot blame
                  For he are the moth and she's the flame
                                            -

Persian:  Chand geh bagzaar ta meebeenamat
              Ta keh jaanam waam e to, mehwash, bawad
Urdu:      Rehguzar maen taeri jo tha raahraw
              Khaak say kamtar wo, aey mehwash, bana

English:=== Her hapless lover she'll always mistreat
                  And think that he's the dirt of her feet

Persian:  Ger ba yak bosa labat batwaan gazeed
              Aan yakay bosa ba jaay shash bawad
Urdu:      Kaat taera lab lia bosay nay jab
              Aek wo bosa ba jaay shash bana

              Kya na dil us ka abhee ghamkash bana
