It isn't easy getting children to believe in you. I swim the seven seas and keep boats from crashing. I swim with dolphins and whales. I have even swam with the Lochness Monster. She exists, too. A little girl threw her father's phone out the portal window of a cruise ship. It hit me in the face.

The little girl was crying and I said: "Little girl, don't cry. I have your father's cell phone."

The cute little blonde girl exclaimed: "A mermaid! You're beautiful and you have red hair! You have my father's cell phone."

I handed her the cell phone as my tail was long enough to reach my body to the window and the little girl hugged me. I have never been that close to a little girl before. I hear her call out to her sister that there is a mermaid in the ocean and I saw a fishing boat near by. I left because I didn't want to get mistaken for a tuna.

I swam away a few miles and there was a brown retriver dog in the ocean! His family frantically were yelling for him. They called him "Shiloh." Sharks were near by and I swim faster then sharks and I rescued the scared dog as he licked my face. I bought him back to the family boat and a little boy and his brother got their dog back in the boat.

The older boy was seventeen and exclaimed: "You aren't a lady! You are a mermaid! Hey! I need a date for the prom!" I swam away. Like I could go to a prom on dry land. I let kids see me but not adults. I did rescue a man once that had fallen out of his boat. The man asked if he was dreaming and called me an angel. I guess I am an angel of the sea. I put him on a life raft and I got the seagulls to get the Coast Guard's attention. The seagulls fly around and there are so many that the Coast Guard go see why the seagulls are there. I don't want to be seen by adults. I am safer this way. I prefer that little kids believe in me. A vivid imagination is important and little minds need to develop.

I need to get to my Mythology Creatures Meeting so I can tell them that three children saw me and believe in me. Later, I can swim with my dolphin and whale friends. I need to protect these creatures in foreign waters. I hope someday, whaling and capturing dolphins will be a thing of the past. I will be protecting ships from ice bergs as well. I love being a mythology creature of the ocean. I will always be around to protect creatures and people who travel the ocean. A Mermaid's work is never done.
