A Winters Night

Nightfall uncurls

cloaking the light

The glacier wind breathes in the cracks

of solemn city dwellings

Frost spreads stains

on the iron roof slates-

as the glass trickles slowly

down wintry panes

The shadows stir

and fold into corners

And the night cracks her knuckles

on the canvas of sky

And sleep sticks thickly

to the eyelids of mankind
