A span connecting two...
What? The beginning Depends on where you start Equal but opposite Are you going to.. Or from? Or perhaps halting midpoint Stopping to watch Boats passing Sailing beautifully in the breeze Or steaming to war Or carting goods from port to port. Passages. "Not all who wander are lost" Dear master Tolkien tells us. I wander in fantasies Glittering cites of the mind And tips of steaming, reeking offal Among the soaring walls Of ego. Am I lost? Beginning, middle, ending Stories have them And lives, moments, scenes Linear and tidy At least so we're told. Yet time, like bridges Lives, stories, moments Are malliable monsters Rarely cooperative Simply sliding off the bridge Or jumping into the sewer Below.
