Charlie's Legacy
Charlie's gone, but he lives on...

CHARLIE'S LEGACY

Charlie laid aside his cross today,
and said "I'm done!"
The cross he'd borne near ninety years,
which helped him bear life's endless tears,
and gave him strength to best his fears,
and see him through the fray...

Charlie laid his trial aside today
and said goodbye.
He'd done the things he'd tried to do;
he did his best to see Life through,
and toiled in soil from whence love grew,
yet found a smile each day.

Charlie's Cross is there for all to see
the love he gave.
I think it represents his soul-
I think perhaps he left it whole,
for days we lose sight of Life's goal...
That's Charlie's Legacy!

Now he's off to Polka once again
with mom, somewhere.
He's grinning, cracking silly jokes
and downing shots through tavern smoke,
no longer straining in Life's yoke,
he takes her by the hand...

...spinning, spinning, flying feet,
they whirl and twirl and mark the beat.
And as up and beyond they fly,
they leave two diamonds in the sky...
