A Job I So Need
"Dear God, one’s belief in oneself is a necessity..." - a poem about reorganization.

Dear God, one’s belief in oneself is a necessity,
But our fear of a lay-off these days is a certainty,
With companies shedding costs like unwanted impurities,
The unfortunate who’ve been cut live with pink slip reality…

That wormhole of payment, experience, and headcount
Leaves one feeling doubt and mortality, so blunt –
As news of the economic recession abounds,
The jobless rate keeps worsening as the lay-offs mount!

But one thing’s for sure, when our businesses downsize,
We can earn unemployment and a severance of some size,
Then, we must seek with a most competitive eye,
For the next job we need, which we can dutifully surmise...

My job, for so long, it’s a job I sure need,
May God grant sweet mercy and kindness, with speed...
It’s a possible revelation that I don’t want to see –
I’m still waiting in fear of this decision, indeed...
