I stand silently and watch you cry,
My loving wife in black. And I stand forever out of view, For I never can come back. I've watched you every single day, And seen those days turn into years. I've seen how grief has eaten you, Like a cancer of the tears. Your sky is grey and darker now, Your heart is spent and dried. I never wished your life to end, When it was 'I' that died. I'm sorry that you hurt so much, And I can't comfort you. I know the pain that burns inside, Because I feel it too. Know that I can hear your words, And that I still love you. And though I may be out of reach, Know that the dead cry too.
