Let me hear those old love songs that talk about forever.
Let me hear those old love songs that say "I'll leave you never." While others roam and play around I'll stay right here with you. I'll love you till the end of time with a love forever new. I don't need those cheatin' songs Now you're with me to stay. I don't need those cheatin" songs, I'll love you come what may. So let the lonely and the blue Drown their fears in tears While they listen to the cheatin' songs And drink their lonely beers. Let me hear some new love songs about a love that's true. Let me hear some new love songs and hear the words "I do." We'll weather every storm of life and know our love is true And only when life's days are done Will it be said "We're through." I don't need those cheatin' songs Now you're with me to stay. I don't need those cheatin' songs, I'll love you come what may. So let the lonely and the blue Drown their fears in tears While they listen to the cheatin' songs And drink their lonely beer. NOTE: This is another set of lyrics I sent to a "song factory" to have set to music, and I actually went to the trouble to register the copyright on this one several years ago. However, I have never even heard it sung since I never did anything else with it. My musical tastes are eclectic, and do include country and western music, although that musical type does not rank at the top of my list of favorites. But since cheatin' and drinkin' (always without the g at the end) play a major role in C&W music, I thought just for the fun of it I would write some lyrics from the other side of the bar, so to speak. The lyrics above are the result.
