Faith it seems odd to vary a few words trying to define an unseen hand being held by the thread of a phantom limb's beat to eyes that know the meaning is beyond the construction of syntax and nouns playing within the mind and the twisting of each sense around reality in a dead body further away from the far out cry of the feel of "The Lighthouse Poetry Contests" Prompt: Pick a verse and write a poem about it: Hebrews 11:1 [lines 23] I linked the website above for the source of all the various bible versions I used below. I spaced out three sections of the bible verse Hebrews 11:1 from different English bible translations. I did this because I found the small changes in this particular bible verse to be rather intriguing. The different bible versions are grouped by similar word translations: [Group 1] uses "substance" [Group 2] uses "assurance" and the one in [Group 3] has a completely different syntax than all the others. I used a different font color to show the differences in the groups. The differences are considered differences because they have a minor change from the overall form of the verse. I'm not saying one version is better than the other or that the first version of each group is the right one. All I am saying is the differences in this verse are very interesting to me because of my own views of faith. If you were wondering, my favorite version is the last one. I find the different syntax cool. The best part is that it ends in a coma and not in a period. TAKE A LOOK!!! [Group 1] Hebrews 11:1 (King James Version) Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Hebrews 11:1 (English: Webster's Bible) Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Hebrews 11:1 (English: Douay-Rheims) Now faith is the substance of things to be hoped for, the evidence of things that appear not. Hebrews 11:1 (English: Basic English Bible) Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, and the sign that the things not seen are true. Hebrews 11:1 (English: Darby Version) Now faith is [the] substantiating of things hoped for, [the] conviction of things not seen. [Group 2] Hebrews 11:1 (English: New American Standard Bible) Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen. Hebrews 11:1 (English: New Revised Standard Version) Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen. Hebrews 11:1 (English: American Standard Version) Now faith is assurance of [things] hoped for, a conviction of things not seen. Hebrews 11:1 (English: World English Bible) Now faith is assurance of things hoped for, proof of things not seen. Hebrews 11:1 (English: Weymouth NT) Now faith is a well-grounded assurance of that for which we hope, and a conviction of the reality of things which we do not see. [Group 3] Hebrews 11:1 (English: Young's Literal Translation) And faith is of things hoped for a confidence, of matters not seen a conviction,
