        3  A LOVER’S FATE

The air goes misty whenever I sigh
And the clouds in heaven start to cry
And when in love I feel forlorn
Even the flowers of spring begin to mourn

Desires are many there in my breast
But in my eyes I just have request
And, as you know, she is cruel and cold
And cares she not for a lover old
And though for her I pray and pray
She thinks I’m a prey, for her to slay

                    Urdu Ode

                      ANJAAM

Haen labraiz aahoun say thhandi hawaaen
Udaasi maen doobi hui haen ghataaen
Mohabbat ki dunya pay shaam aa chuki hay
Siyahpoash haen zindagi ki fizaaen

Machalti haen seenay maen laakh arzooen
Tarhapti haen aankhoun maen laakh iltejaaen
Taghaaful kay aaghoash maen soe rahay haen
Tumhaaray sitam aur maeri wafaaen
Mager phir bhee aey maeray maasoom qaatil
Tumhaen piaar kerti haen maeri duaaen
