Arsonist
through the eyes

" Arsonist "

The flick of a fingernail
across a sulfur-tipped wooden match.
The "snap" of ignition,
the reaction of oxygen and fuel.
A serpent borne
languid and lithe,
fixation in a flame.
He watches it flow and undulate
in captured fascination,
luring those who choose to watch.
Always feeding on its surroundings,
taunting the voyeur.
It licks and writhes like an exotic dancer.
By fire-light he salivates in the shadows,
as it eternally caresses the night.
