A ruba‘i is a four-line poem following a specific meter, in which lines one, two, and four follow the same rhyme pattern.  This is a rubaiyat, an extended form of a ruba'i. Rhyme scheme is aaba, bbcb, ccac.

Embracing Spring

Slowly Mother Earth’s face turns to the sun,
Gradually the snow melts, winter is done.
Spring is here, blossoms bloom once more.
It’s a time of renewal, for everyone.

It’s not uncommon to see open doors.
Except in a storm, when it downpours.
Grins and smiles, seen all over the place.
Coats and scarves, worn no more.

We now walk along at a slower pace.
Against the weather, we no longer race.
Look closely, see the spider’s web spun?
We bask in the sun, its warmth we embrace.
