Like the end of a great battle, the troops of winter lie fallen and quiet...

“Exhaustion”

One... last... hushed...droplet
from rooftop ice surrenders
its frozen voice as
mutterings of winged things
push pale winter into spring.


("winged" is pronounced "wing ed")
