Sunsets

Those splashy nights when God
Paints the heavens in colors
Vermillion, Rose, tuquoise
Scarlet.

We stand in awe
Call others to join
Write sonnets
Take pictures or paint the memory.

But then there are those
Private nights
Pale pink hints the horizon
Before gray intrudes bringing deepest indigo.

More private but just as beautiful
Valuable to the soul
To be cherished
Held close
And thank our heavenly Father.

All sunsets, all sunrises
Are gifts of joy.
Have you said thank you?
