The Dark Dance
The yawning chasm of the night inhales the ebon sea.

Dance of Darkness

I watch in awe the hued display
that marks the coming dusk.
The colors blend at end of day
leaving a darkened husk.

The faint horizon disappears
as eventide is born.
It is a time of ancient fears
and visages forlorn.

The yawning chasm of the night
inhales the ebon sea.
With the waning of the light,
they're one – no longer free.

With patience I await the sparks
that coldly incandesce
the sky with luminescent marks;
a nacreous caress.

I watch as cresting waves respond.
Their glowing crowns reveal
the ocean's and the sky's close bond;
complexities surreal.

This joyous dance of sea and air,
like lovers in the night,
celebrate all that they share
until the dawn's first light.

Beneath the rising salty mists
the colors fade back in.
The dark ballet no more exists
until night calls again.
