Oh to cry the rain away
time to visit the zoo
with Mom so sad,
holding my hand
it's not such a shame
to see her in pain again,

Dad so far away at war
her memory fading
the family reunion,
with a folded flag
brave he died alone
in the urn on the mantle.

My memory so alive
seeing baby apes
jumping for joy,
Dad in a circle
there in the zoo
laughing tears of joy,

Mom imitating them
a barking sound
running away,
behind the tree
seeing squirrels
following her that day.

The rain my reminder
to say I love her
with tears of joy,
come what may
all our tomorrows
Dad waiting in heaven -
