“Sevenling (The cat sits}”
By Doris Ruth Mackey

The cat sits in the window
Licking her lips and trembling
Longing for the world outside.

A bird sits on the branch
Unaware of danger,
He sings a happy song.

Never has peace been so transparent.

Sevenling:
The Sevenling is a form created by Scottish poet Roddy Lumsden. It is a seven line poem split into 3 stanzas(two three-line stanzas or tercets, followed by a one-line stanza).
Titles are not required, but when present, sevenlings should be titled "Sevenling" followed by the first few words of the poem in parentheses.
The 1st stanza should contain an element of three. It could be three connected or contrasting statements, a list of three details or names, or something else along those lines.
The 2nd stanza should also contain an element of three, though th first and second do not have to relate to each other directly.
The final line/staza should act as either narritive summary, a punch line or an unusual juxtaposition of the first two.
