A Note to My Daughter

My dear, sweet daughter.
Your whole life has been filled with wonderful,
firsts that have brought me joy.

As a baby,
your first tooth, made me smile,
your first word, made me speechless,
your first step, made me stand tall.

You grew up and went to school where,
your first day, made me cry,
your first program, made me proud,
your first ‘A’ report card, made me feel ecstatic.

Now time has passed and you are a teenager.
You have made it through many ups and downs.
Here you will get your first kiss. Will I be ready to hear about it?
Here you will get your first date. Will I be able to see you through all the nerves I must not show?
Here you will be a senior ready to graduate. Will I be able to hold back the tears?

The only thing I can say is that every first is important.
I hope that you can remember them so you can share them
with your daughter.
My first grandchild will know nothing but love from her mother and me.
