"DISAPPOINTMENT”
by David A Johnson

Looking back it seems, a lifetime ago, that I looked to you for what I needed to know.
The search so many years finally done; certain as my God you’re the only one.
For most accept lies impossible to believe;a more rational truth, they can’t receive.
Together but alone we go our own ways; so shall it be if nothing more worthy's found to to say.
So life goes on with each child born; innocent and unaware into a world to be torn.

How fortunate I am to receive your translation, learning of you by careful contemplation.
Though born of the flesh even suffering within, you taught my soul to see beyond the sin
For this sin is now greater than ever before, increased by many who think they know more.
Even from the beginning as we are told; we stumble while waiting for your truth to unfold.
That trust in you only is meant for our good; that we may know how to live as we should.
Yet I fear for the souls held in error ruled by men, as if asleep, and are led to their end.

Standing above us and think they look down, unaware that in you only, is wisdom to be found.
With or without conscience, they mold upon our plate, that which even decides our fate.
Even if they do so without malicious intent, it will fail if it lacks the better masters’ consent.
Blessed are they who suffer for righteousness sake; the life in these no man can take.
Intelligence we judge as to measure the mind, but wisdom of life is the hardest to find.
To trust intelligence seen, is a road without end, surely wisdom to live life is a better friend.

It is easy to fool a child born into the dark, but by wisdom of God, our fears depart.
Darkness in this life is the ignorance of us all, and how true it is; pride comes before the fall.
In foolish superstition only do demons exist, to which only sound reason have we hope to resist.
Hearing of that way we must choose to go, for in that way only is all we need to know.
Lost in interpretation I was often led astray, but truly you deliver all that you say.
To suffer in his likeness isn’t easily done, but the prize is becoming a good faithful son.
