Birthday Surprise
Today is my eighth birthday, And I’m gonna get a surprise. I’ve looked in our small hallway. There’s no big package I can recognize. My mother has that special smile. Dad just nods as he shaves his face. My sister is so juvenile saying that it could be anyplace. I don’t need shirts or brand new shoes I’ve prayed for one great thing. I’ve looked and found no special clues. Gosh, I hear the doorbell ring. I see Grandma with a chocolate cake. Aunt Fran has a CD that I like. But I jumped for joy as I saw my Cousin Jake Who was bringing me my brand new racer bike!
