What is Truth, Anyway?
A question of truth, rather, a few questions. Lets start with one....What on earth is it?"

What is truth, really?

Who do you believe?
Could it be my version
or yours; two children
fussing in the backseat,
or a couple arguing?
Who's wrong, who's right?
Does it matter who lost, who won?
Best not to believe either one?

And who do we trust, really?
The left or the right?
the satiated or the contrite?
If I say, "Best not to believe
either one," does that make me
neutral, independent, indecisive,
a skeptic, perhaps. Maybe,
we are asking the wrong question.
Not who, but what?
What do we trust?

What is truth, anyway,
but a story believed
by the teller, seen
by the witness, professed
by those with something to gain
or nothing at all to lose.
What is truth?  I think,
you know already.
