28  IT GETS WHATEVER IT WANTS AND MORE

It gets whatever it wants and more
But your heart is lonesome as never before

Your eyes are also losing the light
And the day is appearing more like the night

And faith and reason are selling so cheap
And the prices of gems are so very steep

And the closer you get to the folks you know
The stranger to you they all seem to grow

And the richer they are the more they snitch
And prouder are getting the mighty and rich

So it is no use; it’s totally insane
This world of ours you cannot explain

                          URDU POEM
                              GHAZAL

Kaie baar is ka daaman bhar diya husn e doe aalam say
Mager yeh dil keh is ki khaanaweeraani naheen jaati

Kaie baar is ki khaatir zarray, zarray ka jiger cheera
Mager yeh chashm e hairaan jis ki hairaani naheen jaati

Naheen jaati mataa e laal o gohar ki garaanyaabi
Mataa e ghairat o eimaan ki arzaani naheen jaati

Meri chashm e tanaasaan ko baseerat mil gaie jab say
Bohat jaani hui soorat bhee pehchaani naheen jaati

Sar e khusro say naaz e kajkulaahi chhin bhee jaata hay
Kelaah e khusrawi say boo e sultaani naheen jaati

Ba juz deewaangi waan aur chaara hi kaho kya hay
Jahaan aql o khirad ki aek bhee maani naheen jaati
