34  THE SUN IS RISING

Year after year these hands of mine
Did all their work that wasn’t benign
I did not like what they made me do
But had no choice but to simply resign

But now I feel I’m going to be free
To be whatever I would like to be
The night is passing and the sun will shine
And bring an end to my agony

My these two hands did make them money
And gave to them all the milk and honey
And knew I not what to think of it
But now, I think, it wasn’t so funny

The sun is rising, I feel quite sure
And the dark of night I won’t have to endure

                      URDU POEM
          SIAASI LEADER KAY NAAM

Saalha saal yeh baiaasra jakrhay huay haath
Raat kay sakht o siyeh seenay maen paiwast rahay
Jis terheh tinka samander maen ho sargarm e sataiz
Jis terheh teetri kohsaar pay yalghaar keray
Aur ab raat kay sangeen o siyeh seenay maen
Itnay ghaao haen keh jis simt nazar jaati hay
Ja ba ja noor nay ik jaal sa bun rakhh'khha hay
Dour say subheh ki dharhkan ki sada aati hay

Taera sarmaaya, teri aas yehi haath to haen
Aur kuchh bhee toe naheen pass, yehi haath toe haen
Tujh ko manzoor naheen ghalba e zulmat laikin
Tujh ko manzoor hay yeh haath qalam ho jaaen
Aur mashriq ki kameengeh maen dharhakta hua din
Raat ki aahani mayyat kay  talay dab jaay
