the morning storm rolled into my peaceful dreams when tossed about as pillows feathers flying free buckets filled and sideways rain against the ailing shutter was there a morning lark her song unsung light was splayed across the lawn splinters down the hallway what other would be terrified to go but in this awkward peace of understanding I know the rain and he my story knows of other days the dark was come and left behind another made stronger by the lightning deeper by the boom flowers sprang from rock outside my wanting even now the roof recalls each sweet goodbye some pitty pat ratta tat come and let me in I'm rocked asleep as tender rivers swell how much of me the storm was made remembers me so well
