![]() THE NEWSLETTER FOR OUR May 1st, 2011: INAUGURAL EDITION Greetings Dear Rising Star Sponsors! For those of you who don't know me, let me introduce myself. My name is blainecindy - I love my WDC! Gabriella The season of spring is finally here and with it new life is being ushered in. It is the season of new beginnings. It is therefore fitting at this time to have new beginnings with the Rising Stars Sponsorship Program as well. Beginning with this issue, we now have our own newsletter, sent only to our Rising Star Sponsors. This is a first in Rising Stars Sponsorship history. Also, as of March 1st, 2011, each sponsor now receives her/his own personalized signature each time they adopt a new Rising Star. There are more new things in store for the Rising Stars Sponsorship Program, which will only get better and better as time goes on, because of our wonderful Sponsors. I have met a few of our Sponsors already, and every Sponsor I have met so far has exhibited the great qualities needed to be a dedicated and caring Rising Stars Sponsor. I am sure there are many more of you out there who are just like them, and I am looking forward to meeting you, too. I'm also wondering if there are any Sponsors who would like to adopt a new Rising Star. We would love to have you. There are so many Rising Stars out there who need great Sponsors. So, dear Sponsors, if you'd like to adopt a new Rising Star, please do contact me --blainecindy - I love my WDC! If any Sponsors have any questions about anything, please let me know. In the meantime, you may find the following information very helpful:
Thank you for allowing me to serve as your Rising Stars Sponsorship Leader. Best regards, Your Editor, ![]() ![]() Please welcome our newest Sponsors and their Rising Stars: The first THREE people to respond to this special spot will receive ONE (1) free short story review by Rising Stars' March Best Reviewer of the Month A.J. Lyle Contact blainecindy - I love my WDC! At the beginning of April a survey was sent to our Sponsors which asked these five questions: 1. Are you an experienced Rising Star Sponsor, or are you new to being a Rising Star Sponsor? 2. How many Rising Stars have you sponsored up to this point in time? 3. If you are a new Rising Star Sponsor, how long have you been a Rising Star Sponsor? 4. Please give us your best advice, tips, or techniques that you feel help you to be a source of support and encouragement to your Rising Star. 5. Do you have anything that you wish to add? Several of you turned in your surveys with some excellent responses to these questions. We numbered the surveys returned and by roll of the virtual dice one Sponsor was chosen to be our: ![]() Pat is the wife and the mother of two adopted children and hails from Alabama. Her favorite books are about the Old South, mysteries, and romantic comedies, while her favorite music is rock and roll from the fifties, sixties, and seventies. Her favorite movies are Sense and Sensibility, Stepmom, Sixth Sense, and Signs. "Be kind to everyone you meet, for each person is fighting his own battle" is the quote that she lives by. Pat has a deep love of poetry. Pat joined Writing.Com on April 11, 2008. As a matter of fact, last month she celebrated her third year anniversary at WDC. She never believed she could write something as beautiful as a poem until she was encouraged to write by her Rising Star Sponsor. She first found out about Rising Stars when she received an invitation to join from Gabriella. She had a wonderful Sponsor who encouraged her to write and believed that she had a gift. Not long after that she was thrilled to find out that she could be a Rising Star Sponsor, also. Since that time she has happily sponsored five Rising Stars. She is regularly on the look-out for new candidates to submit as Rising Stars. She looks for ways to showcase her Rising Star's work. She adds their name to her handle; she adds a line in her signature block advertising their port and she loves the new Sponsor signature. She proudly announces them in her bio block. Her goal is to send them something at least once a week, especially in the beginning. It may be raffle tickets, a c-Note, or just an email to say hello. She also gifts them with a nice long hot shower from Showering Acts of Joy. She often gifts them with an inexpensive personalized signature and will continue to check their port for items to review and especially look for new items. At some point she will gift them with a merit badge and/or awardicon. Sometimes if she's bidding in an auction she will look for packages that her Rising Star will enjoy receiving (within her budget). Pat said: "Sometimes our job is simply to nudge our Rising Stars to try something new. I let them know how proud I am to see them blossoming as a Rising Star. Our purpose and mission is to seek out writers who show promise, then give them the nourishment they need to grow as writers and leaders in this wonderful community." One of Pat's Rising Stars, DOC, gone insane, back later. "I can't say enough good things about Pat. She was there for me when I had questions, when I was confused, and just generally being a really positive driving force on a day to day basis. Way to go Pat! The mettle shines through the day to day workload, and you bring the value and rewards to any table at which you choose to sit; we, your Rising Star nominations are better for having been in your sights." Another of Pat's Rising Stars, Karen "Pat is my Rising Star Sponsor. Pat is an encourager, always knowing just when someone needs a kind word or a note of cheer. She has sent me generous packages and has always been there for me. I have watched as her star has risen and am delighted to see her carrying a blue suitcase. No one incident comes to mind -- with Pat it is an everyday, all the time splendid character type of thing. There is nobody more deserving of being a Sponsor in the Spotlight or of being a wonderful human being in the spotlight than Pat." One more of Pat's Rising Stars, Ashley Daeschlein "Not long after I became a Rising Star, I had a piece that had several poor ratings with no reason. I asked Pat to take a look at it for me and see if she could figure out why it wasn't being rated as high as I expected. She read it and gave me a few ideas to improve. She also encouraged me to become a sponsor myself at the beginning of last month. She found someone who she thought was promising and she thought would be a good fit and suggested it. When I wasn't sure, she encouraged me to take on my Star without pushing me. I don't now what I would do without my Pat!" And last, but not least, Kasia ~ ID#1868420 "I have much to say about my dear Pat! You won't be able to get me to stop! Pat is my best friend on Writing.Com, and that is quite a feat seeing as I have many wonderful friends. She is active in many different ways around the site, encouraging writers in their walks. She has a shining personality and a supportive attitude. Browsing through her portfolio, one only catches a glimpse of the trials she has endured, hardships from which she has emerged better and experienced every time. Her encouragement and support is unbelievably helpful. She does not realize how much I truly appreciate her support. I am fantastically pleased to be her Rising Star and marvelously honored that she is my Sparkling Sponsor. Go check her port and hang around -- you never know what you'll learn from this brilliant lady!" ![]()
