44 REJOICE O HEART…
Rejoice O heart the spring is here And the tulips and roses are about to appear And though some winter is still there The birds are starting to fly in the air And though it is not completely gone The night is ending; we can see the dawn And because it is the end of the night The lights are burning all so bright Our lives are happy, and we feel great At last we’ve conquered our cruel fate And all of a sudden there is no pain The cage is gone; there is no chain And although the thorns are still there We are so happy, FAIZ, we do not care URDU POEM AUGUST 1952 Roshan kaheen bahaar kay imkaan huay toe haen Gulshan maen chaak chand gareebaan huay toe haen Ab bhee khizaan ka raj hay laikin kaheen kaheen Goshay reh chaman maen ghazalkhaan huay toe haen Thheri huie hay shab ki siyaahi waheen mager Kuchh kuchh saher kay rang perafsheen huay toe haen Un maen lahoo jala ho hamaara, keh jaan o dil Mehfil maen kuchh charaagh faroazaan huay toe haen Haan kaj karo kulaah keh sab kuchh luta kay hum Ab bainiaaz e gardish e douraan huay toe haen Ahl e qafas ki subh e chaman maen khulay gi aankh Baad e saba say waada o paimaan huay toe haen Hay dasht ab bhee dasht mager khoon e pa say FAIZ Sairaab chand khaar e mugheelaan huay toe haen ====
