Where the Music Plays
Rated: E | Poetry | Romance/Love | #1773901
Forget everyone but us, every place but here, every time but now.
Where the Music Plays

This silence impedes
so turn that music higher,
make the melodies
peak.  No need to speak,
your smile says it all,
and my smile says it all, so
lie here with me, don’t
you move, right now we
are perfect, talk will only prove
a world exists outside this room.
I run my fingers through your hair
you close your eyes, I continue
to stare.  I feel filled in a moment
so simple, so rare, and the
music plays on, and the music plays on.
I know by the expression on your face
and the way our eyes connect, our minds,
our hearts are in the same place,
and it’s the right place,
and the music plays.
Can this night start to heal
the ways we’ve wounded each other?
Can we forgive ourselves
as easily as we’ve forgiven others?
The world outside these dim
lights is stormy, the life
out there is forming new
beginnings to only meet new ends.
So tonight we stay
where the music plays
because here we’re safe.
Here, tonight, we’re safe.
