          48  O WHAT A DREAM

Alone and lonely when sitting in my room
I see emerging from the veil of gloom
Your brow, your cheeks, your mouth, your chin
Like the flowers of spring, so full of bloom

I hear the sound of your dainty feet
And pray that me they’re coming to meet
And feel I even your warming breath
And smell its fragrance, so pleasant and sweet

And then I see you beam and gleam
Dispelling the gloom with a glee supreme
And  suddenly with joy I begin to scream
O what a dream, what a beautiful dream

                          URDU POEM
                                YAAD

Dasht e tanhaaie maen, aey jaan e jahaan, larzaan haen
Taeri aawaaz kay sa'ay, teray hountoun kay saraab
Dasht e tanhaaie maen douri kay khas o khaak talay
Khil rahay haen teray pehloo kay saman aur gulaab

Uthh rahi hay kaheen qurbat say teri saans ki aanch
Apni khushboo maen sulagti huie madhham, madhham
Dour, ufaqpaar chamakti huie qatra, qatra
Gir rahi hay teri dildaar nazar ki shabnam

Is qadar piyaar say, aey jaan e jahaan, rakhhkhha hay
Dil kay rukhsaar pay is waqt teri yaad nay haath
Yuin gumaan hota hay, gercheh hay abhee subh e firaaq
Dhal gaya hijr ka din, aa bhee gaie wasl ki raat
