There are places I go where no one can find me, hidden away from the wares of the world. Moments forgotten others look over, I'm the light on the pasture. I'm the ghost of a girl once danced from the shadows, willing and barefoot. Chosen for this but never knew why, what whispers I might have been hearing. What verse I'll reclaim, long ago lullaby now pools into silence I go to my own, to walk as the dark where spirits are known. I sleep as the stars, curse the man who thinks less of places immortal my longing shall bless. Thanks be to the Maker of creatures and streams, the song of the willow brings life to my dreams. Wreaths of cedar, woodsmoke and ash, hickory, chestnut, and evergreens past. Swarms of something moving low to the ground, mourns as twilight is falling - loves without making a sound. Need not I to know or to speak of this place, tis more than a memory of living and grace. Of far away places I came here to find, o'er oceans reclaiming each river, distance restored every night. Promise repeated in ripples and swirls are rolled into moments of wonder. All of my names are known by this place - venus, blackbird, and thunder.
