63  O THE BAR IS CLOSING; THE WINE IS GONE

O the bar is closing; the wine is gone
And the topers are yawning, waiting for the dawn

And without the radiance of the beautiful girls
It’ll become as dark as their raven curls

And then the topers will grope and grope
With the maids will leave their joy and hope

In the heavens above they’ll look for the moon
While leaving in gloom the joyous saloon

And their happy spring will come to an end
And their lonely hearts they’ll go and mend

Jamay gi kaisay bisaat e yaaraan keh sheesha o jaam bujh gaay haen
Sajay gi kaisay shab e nigaaraan keh dil sar e shaam bujh gaay haen

Wo teergi hay reh e butaan maen, chiraagh e rukh hay na shum e waada
Kiran koie aarzoo ki laao keh sab dar o baam bujh gaay haen

Bohat sanbhaala wafa ka paimaan mager wo barsi hay ab kay barkha
Her aek iqraar mit gaya hay; tamaam paighaam bujh gaay haen

Qareeb aa aey meh e shab e gham, nazar pay khulta naheen kuchh is dam
Keh dil pay kis kis ka naqsh baaqi hay, kon say naam bujh gaay haen

Bahaar ab aa kay kya keray gi keh jin say tha jashn e rang o naghma
Wo gul sar e shaakh jal gaay haen, wo dil teh e daam bujh gaay haen
