UNTIL NIGHT IS GONE
He was the first to go Was the last one home He was still living But feeling so alone. ~ It’s a long road back Back home from a war It’s distance and time And a whole lot more. ~ Memories remain Locked in his head As darkness descends The nighttime, he dreads. ~ The years pass on by But he can’t forget From dreams he awakes In shivering sweat. ~ Remembering friends And living with pain Sleep is illusive… This night all in vain. ~ His mind will not rest Just keeps racing on And so it will be Until night is gone. ©05/16/11
