72  BUT STILL I FEEL A WHIFF OF GLEE

About my wounded heart no one does care
They say it’s something you cannot repair

The preachers and friends are equally cold
They love to admonish; they love to scold

And she is as callous as she can be
And care she does not about my agony

Even flowers of spring don’t look very gay
And everything in the garden is in disarray

But still I feel a whiff of glee
Her face, O FAIZ, whenever I see

                                        URDU POEM
                                          GHAZAL

Na kisi pay zakhm ayaan koie, na kisi ko fikr rafu ki hay
Na karam hay hum ay habeeb ke, na nigaah hum pay adoo ki hay

Saff e zaahidaan hay toe baiyaqeen, saff e maikashaan hay toe baitalab
Na subhay darood o wazo ki hay, na wo shaam jaam o saboo ki hay

Na yeh gham naya, na sitam naya keh teri jafa ka gila keraen
Yeh nazar thi pehlay bhee muztarab, yeh kasak toe dil maen kabhoo ki hay

Kuff e baaghbaan pay bahaar e gul ka hay qarz pehlay say baishtar
Keh her aek phool kay pairahan maen namood maeray lahoo ki hay

Naheen khoaf e roaz e siyeh humaen, na hay, FAIZ, zarf e nigaah maen
Abhee goshageer wo ik kiran, jo lagan us aainaroo ki hay
