87  THE FLOWERS ARE RESTING

The flowers are resting
The birds are gone
The clouds are weeping
Waiting for the dawn

The music has stopped
There is no dance
The lights are dim
And I’m in a trance

But in the sky
There is a star
Somewhere there
Very, very far

It’s trying to smile
It’s trying to wink
While here my heart
Is ready to sink

              URDU POEM
PHOOL MURJHA GAAY SAARAY

Phool murjha gaay haen saaray
Thamtay naheen aasmaan kay aansoo
Shumaen bainoor ho gai haen
Aainay choor ho gaay haen
Saaz sab baj kay khho gaay haen
Paailaen bujh gaie, soe gaie haen

Aur baadaloun kay peechay
Dour ik raat ka dulaara
Dard ka sitaara
Timtima raha hay
Jhinjhina raha hay
Muskura raha hay
