If I Had
There would have been fewer heart aches IF I’d kept my head and not blamed others! IF had had trusted my own judgment, I’d have known hardly any pessimists. I should not have dealt in lies, IF I had been mature. My dreams would have been fulfilled, IF I had sacrificed more. There would have been limited disasters, IF I had pursued triumphs. Would I have been a fool IF I had not been twisted by dupes? I’d not been easily broken, IF I had stood by my principles. Would I have been a loser, IF I’d not been so reckless? I would have been more human, IF I had been forgiving of ALL my shortcomings! To err is human, IF I can be more self-accepting. I will be a man, IF I can make sense of all this.
