91  MY HOME, MY LAND

O how much blood, my home, my land
Yes, how much blood is enough for you?
And how many tears you must demand
Before you’d say you got your due?

And how many pledges do you need to break
Before your lovers say that’s enough?
And how many lives will be at stake
Before they say it’s getting too rough?

But even though we are all aghast
Let’s not worry about the past
And let’s all hope that your constant need
For blood, and sweat, and tears won’t last

And although we do feel the pain
We’re your lovers; we cannot complain
And we always wish and always pray
That happy and healthy you always remain

                            URDU POEM
HUM TOE MAJBOOR E WAFA HAEN

Tujh ko kitnoun ka lahoo chaahiay, aey arz e watan
Jo teray aariz e bairang ko gulnaar keraen
Kitney aahoun say kalaija tera thhanda ho ga
Kitnay aansoo teray sehraaoun ko gulzaar keraen

Taeray eewaanoun maen purzay huay paimaan kitnay
Kitnay waaday jo na aasooda e iqraar huay
Kitni aankhoun ko nazar khha gaie badkhaahoun ki
Khaab kitnay teri shehraahoun maen sangsaar huay

Balakashaan e mohabbat pay jo hua so hua
Jo mujh pay guzri mat us say kaho, hua so hua
Madaaba ho koie zaalim tera gareebaangeer
Lahoo kay daagh toe daaman say dho, hua so hua

Hum toe mujboor e wafa haen mager aey jaan e jahaan
Apnay ushshaaq say aisie bhee koie kerta hay
Taeri mehfil ko Khuda rakhhkhhay abad tak qaaim
Hum toe mehmaan haen ghharhi bhar kay, hamaara kya hay
