We're diff'rent now, I feel, but can't see why...

We're Diff'rent Now

I feel a bead of sweat drip down my neck,
The room so warm the fan just can’t keep up.
We had a night of sex and triple sec
But things like this don’t come from Dixie Cups.

My fingers trace a curved line down your chest,
The quiet peace I feel right now is new.
I’ve never known a heart could beat this fast
While all the colors seen are so subdued.

We’re diff’rent now, I feel, but can’t see why
And not until you spoke I understood:
I’d never have to say a long goodbye,
To be with me, I knew you always would.

Those words you said I never will forget,
“I love you,” said as soft as a vignette.
