“Oliver, it was the right thing to do at the time.”

“But why didn’t you tell me? I could have helped. You knew I wanted a child back then, especially after what happened the first time.”

“I had already pushed you away. What was the point of bringing you back?”

“Because, Jennifer, I loved you that is why I gave you that ring and I would have loved her more than anything.”

“I didn’t want Lena to grow up like I had to love you for two years…always watching you walk out the door suitcase in hand, always gone for months at a time! I love that you got to fulfill your dream job but I hated that it took you away from me.”

“I-“

“That’s why I tried to give you the ring back in the first place.”

“I remember.”

~~~~~~~~~
“She looks like you, Jen.”
“All I ever see is your blue eyes and big forehead. …and your grandmother.”
“Is that why Lena’s middle name is the same?”
“My grandma was Sonia too. It was both of them.”
“Ever think about what we had back then?”
“For the past 13 years she’s my daily reminder of what I gave up.”
~~~~~~~~~

“Dad, I know you can’t be here all the time but I don’t care. I’m just glad you’re here now.”

“How would you feel if I were around more often?”

“That’d be fine…Oh hey, Mom.”

“What are you two up to?”

“Good you both are here; I have a proposition for you.”

“Oliver what are you talking about?”

“I have a few prior jobs that need to be done, give me 8 months, and then I will be back here to be in your life…if you want me to be.”

“YES! Yes, yes, yes.”

“Jen?”

“Now that she knows, Lena is going to need her father. You are welcome here any time, you know that.”

“Dad, why are you bending down?”

“It’s the ring.”

“How many times do I have to tell you? It’s your ring. Jennifer, this is the third time I’m asking will you marry me?”

~~~~~~~~~
“I do.”
“By the powers invested in me I now pronounce you husband and wife. Oliver you may kiss your bride.”
