The anguish of love

Avg Rating: (3)
I know you can't feel for me like I feel for you,
I know I can't mean as much to you as you mean to me,
Even though I can never expect you to ever utter the words,
I know I don't want you to have expectations unfulfilled

For I know what it is to harbor words unheard and unspoken,
I know the anguish of loving that which I cannot have,
My life is littered and tattered and my road is left unpaved,
I know the futility of my desire and it's destiny to find an empty place

A place that will be reserved for you and you alone,
A chamber of heart felt hopes and dreams,
But forever burdened with ill timing,
One that runs fast or slow

One that wants to be a special part of your life's journey,
One that wants to shield you from all that is wrong with the world,
One that offers you the protection that is not needed but wanted,
One that has frozen in my memory each time our eyes have met

Each time we have shared an embrace or an innocent touch,
Each time we have laughed and cried and shared our experiences,
Each time I have been mesmerized by the beauty that is you,
You who I will always cherish and respect and place above me

You who I would sacrifice and do anything for,
You who I would give up my life for,
You who I hold in the highest mountain of regard,
You who I love
